General Description

Hazaribag literally means a place with a thousand gardens.
Hazaribag town is on the national highway connecting Ranchi to Patna.
Paddy, wheat and maize are the main crops grown in the district. Vegetables,
oilseed and pulses are also grown. Coal, mica, fire clay, lime stone,
felspar and quartz are the minerals found in the district, which has a major
sheet glass manufacturing unit. Hazaribag has a wildlife sanctuary.
