General Description |
Giridih district was carved out from Hazaribag district in December 1972. The famous Parasnath hill (Sammed Shikhar Jee), 4431 feet above sea level, is situated here. The Langta Baba Mazar, which is the symbol of communal harmony is also situated here. Paddy is the main crop. Other important crops include maize, wheat, sugarcane and pulses. The district is famous for its ruby mica and coal fields, and has some mica based industries. It also has a thermal power station. |
